The Amazon Kindle do you think it's crap or awesome?

At first I thought it was crap. I hate reading anything of substance on a computer screen. I can handle LJ, emails, basic webpages, that sort of thing but I'm not big on reading books online. There's something about holding onto an actual book that's awesome. On the other hand though, the screen is supposed to be awesome and anti-glare and read much the same way as a piece of paper. You can have hundreds of books at your finger tips at any moment. And it's small enough to fit inside a purse. So in those regards I think it's kind of cool.

I have no intention of running out and buying one because I can't afford it but I wanted to know what other people think. Is the Amazon Kindle an awesome thing or is it the demise of printed books?
